Ski tours Hochzeiger
A winter experience for all nature lovers
There are three signposted ascent routes for ski tourers in the Hochzeiger ski area in Pitztal. The three ascent trails are signposted throughout. Due to their altitude profile, the ascent trails are also divided into different levels of difficulty (blue, red, black), similar to the ski slopes.
There are three signposted piste ski tour ascent routes on the Hochzeiger:
- The middle station route (red) - start is at the Hochzeiger valley station
- The Sechszeiger route (black) - start is at the Hochzeiger middle station
- Beginner route (blue) - start is at the Hochzeiger middle station
You can start your ski tour directly at the Hochzeiger Bergbahnen parking lot. From the Hochzeiger valley station to the middle station there is a "red", i.e. medium-difficulty ascent trail. Here, 550 meters of altitude are covered. From the middle station to the Sechszeiger at 2,370 m, there is a second, somewhat more challenging "black" ascent trail. Here, piste ski tourers are rewarded with a panoramic view of the entire Pitztal, Inn and Gurgltal valleys as far as the Zugspitze. The descent is via the slopes of the Hochzeiger ski area and there are numerous refreshment stops at the huts in the ski area.
Please note: The use of the routes depends on the snow conditions. The ski touring ascent routes are only in operation when the pistes are open (piste opening times: from 08.45 to 17.00 - when the ski area is open).
Hochzeiger ski tour for beginners with ski guide
On the Hochzeiger, the Hochzeiger Ski School offers a weekly ski tour for beginners for all those who want to try out ski touring in the Pitztal. On this Hochzeiger ski tour, the ski guides explain to the ski tour participants how to use the touring equipment, give tips and recommendations on the various ascent techniques in the open ski area and an introduction to assessing the avalanche situation.
The beginners' ski tour on the Hochzeiger starts at the middle station at 2,000 meters. From here, you follow the ascent track to Zollberg at 2,225 meters. The descent then takes place off-piste or on the ski slope, depending on the wishes of the ski tour participants.
